In Encinitas
you will find classic beach bungalows to newer homes
on the eastern edge of the city, where the housing
eases off into large lots and horse country. Incorporated
in 1986, Encinitas is composed of several distinct
areas.
Leucadia
- Neptune and along 101- There are older
cottages and bungalows in Leucadia many with wonderful
gardens and yards which are at the lower end of
the areas price range, plus 1 and 2 story ranch
and neo-eclectic homes along Neptune which go
for several million dollars.
Old
Encinitas - The original town of Encinitas
features older cottages and
bungalows, plus newer condo developments along
the bluffs just west of Third Street. Many of
the charming beach bungalows are in the vintage
ranch style of the 40's and 50's. Residents enjoy
the indoor/outdoor feel of this type of home with
glass doors opening up to a large patio and family
friendly yard from the living room, dining room
and master bedroom.
New
Encinitas - Located along El Camino Real
east of the 5 freeway, hills and mesas take over
and the Pacific ambiance fades, replaced by suburban
countryside. Thousands of one and two-story dwellings,
in entire new tracts of homes and condos are landscaped
and well cared for and feature two or three car
garages. Utilities are underground and many of
these upper middle class homes have views.
Cardiff
- Moving east away from the beach the terrain
rises and between the railroad and the freeway,
many of the homes command ocean views. Many of
the houses built in this area are custom one-of-a
kind homes, and of course there are the California
Ranch style homes built in the 1960's which are
so popular throughout the whole state.
Olivenhain
- Olivenhain is east of El Camino Real, and has
a completely different flavor. There are newer
estate type homes in the Olivenhain area in the
2 to 3 million dollar range. If you’re looking
for a charming, upscale community featuring magnificent
homes and incredible ocean views, Olivenhain should
be on your list.
Encinitas
is a great family community. There are eleven parks,
ten public beaches, many trails, a Boys and Girls
Club, a large YMCA, the skateboard park, and sports
programs for kids and adults, Little League, soccer,
etc. Of course there is the famous Quail Botanical
Gardens . The area boasts about six miles of coastline.
There is even a new city golf course gives discounts
to residents. There are shops and malls at El Camino
Real and along Encinitas Boulevard, and the area
has a good employment base of about 20,000 jobs.
